We are very priviledged to be offering up for sale this very rare Collcetors Choice 'Greeny" Les Paul. This is a very accurate recreation of the real 1959 Les Paul standard as the Gibson Custom Shop have had access to the original and have recraeted it as close as it possibly can be in regards to feel, look and sound. Including details such as the deep-set long neck tenon, correct body top binding in the cutaway, accurate Burst Bucker PAF-humbuckers, rounded '59 neck profile, and 17-degree back-angled headstock all give this guitar the feel and tone of the real deal. Produced in strictly limited numbers, this Collector's Choice #1 Melvyn Franks 1959 Les Paul Standard is offered in a run of 300 instruments. This guitar is finished in a nitrocelluose 'Vintage Old Stock' finish and only shows signs of wear on the tuners, bridge, and nickel pickup covers. The VOS finish is essentially a blank canvas for your to create your own wear after years of playing to make it your own, giving it your own personal touch.

Featuring a set of faithfully recreated replicas of the Sperzel tuners Gary Moore fitted whilst owning 'Greeny' these tuners look the part and also ensure your guitar holds it's tuning.

Featuring a gorgeous figured, hand selected two-piece maple top this just looks stunning and certainly looks even better in person depending on the lighting.

NITROCELLUOSE VOS FINISH

Featuring a 'Vintage Old Stock' finish, this is almost a blank canvas for you to put your own personal wear on it after years of use, adding your own personal touch to the instrument. The nitro finish allows the guitar to breathe, subsequently retaining it's resonance.

The maple top/figuring on this guitar matched with the VOS Nitro finish looks very accuarte to the original 'Greeny'.

AGED NICKEL GIBSON BURST BUCKER 'PAF' ALNICO HUMBUCKERS

'Greeny's' distinctive sound is partly from the out-of-phase middle switch position due to the neck pickup’s reversed magnetic polarity. This has been replicated in the 'Melvin Franks' Collectors choice.

Burst Bucker pickups are known for their warm, vintage tone and are designed to replicate the tone of the original Gibson PAF pickups from the 1950s and 60s. The Burst Bucker pickups are available in several different models, including the Burst Bucker 1, 2, and 3, each of which offers a slightly different tonal character. These pickups are made with Alnico II magnets and feature vintage-style winding and wiring, which helps to create a rich, authentic tone that is perfect for blues, rock, and jazz music. They are also known for their high output and clarity, making them a great choice for players who want to cut through the mix in live performances.

GIBSON ABR-1 TUNEMATIC BRIDGE

The classic Gibson ABR-1 bridge is very high quality and provides great tuning stability. It has been very slightly aged by the Gibson Custom Shop, giving it that worn in aesthetic.

 

ELECTRONICS

In the 50/60's Gibson used Sprague Black Beauty caps that were rated . 022 +/-20% 400v. Made with a distinctive yellow and black striped casing they later became known as "bumble bee" caps. They are known for their warm, vintage tone and are a must have in any '59 style Gibson.
